Mixing

The sonic clarity and impact that makes listeners stop everything and turn it up.

Twenty-five years crafting mixes for Sony, Ultra, EMI and BBC Radio 1. From underground techno to commercial house, your music gets the spatial depth and analog weight that makes an A&R stop scrolling. Major-label expertise and a world-class analog rig on every project. Not a plugin chain pretending to be one.

You’re Working With
01The Chain

Analog where it matters. Digital where it’s honest.

Every mix leaves the box and comes back through real circuitry. That is not nostalgia. It is the difference between elements stacked on top of each other and elements that each have their own air.

What Actually
Happens

Most engineers hand you a file and a shrug. Here is every step your session goes through, so you know what you are paying for.

Listen Before Touching

Your stems, your references, your notes. I listen all the way through before a single fader moves, and I work out what the record is trying to do. Getting this wrong is how a mix ends up technically correct and emotionally dead.

Day one

Gain Staging & Cleanup

Every channel set to a sane level, phase checked, clashing resonances and room junk pulled out. The unglamorous pass that makes everything after it work. If your kick and bass are fighting, this is where it gets settled.

Corrective

Balance & Character

The static mix. Levels, tone and the decisions about what leads and what supports. This is where the record starts sounding like a record instead of a collection of parts.

The spine

Analog Summing

Out of the DAW and through the Rupert Neve 5057. Separation, depth, and the front-to-back dimension that plugins approximate and never quite reach. Buses shaped through the BetterMaker chain on the way back.

Out of the box

Space & Motion

Stereo imaging, reverb and delay design, automation that keeps the arrangement moving. A techno record has to breathe over eight minutes on a big rig. That is built here, not bolted on.

Dimension

Translation Check

Mains, nearfields, headphones, a phone speaker, and a club reference level. If it only works in one of those it is not finished. Then you get it, and we talk.

Before delivery

Nothing leaves this room until it holds up on a real system.

Make It Stand Out

Clarity

Analog processing that separates the parts instead of smearing them. Every element finds its place and keeps its own air.

Impact

Dynamic control that hits hard while preserving the artistic vision. Weight that survives a big rig and still reads on a phone.

Depth

Three-dimensional soundscapes through professional summing. The front-to-back layer that separates a demo from a release.

24-bit WAV, plus an MP3 reference for the car
05Send It Right
Stem delivery spec
Format
24-bit WAV or AIFF
Sample rate
The same rate as your session. Do not convert anything.
Length
Every stem exported from bar 1 to the end, same start point, so they line up on drop.
Master bus
No limiter, no bus compression, no master EQ. Leave 6–3 dB of headroom.
Faders
At unity, unless a move is part of the arrangement. Then print it and tell me.
Naming
By instrument. KICK, BASS, LEAD_1, VOX_MAIN. Not Audio 14.
Effects
Print reverbs and delays as their own stems where you can, so I can rebalance them.
Also send
2–3 reference tracks, a rough mix, and the BPM and key.

If that sentence meant nothing to you, send what you have. I will tell you exactly what I need and, if it is quicker, walk you through the export on a call. Nobody has ever been turned away for sending the wrong file.
